The strongest piece in this collection was the informational research piece because it was entirely based on the truth, facts, and statistics which is often rare in politics in current times. Often in politics people focus too much on personal opinion or popular opinion and the facts often get overlooked. So it is useful to have a piece written without opinion. On the other hand, the weakest piece was the fictional piece, for the chosen subject of this collection a fictional piece did not fit in well. Due to the nature of fictional writing, the piece was entirely hypothetical and imaginative, which for a collection on Capitalism/politics did not add much to the project as I would have liked.
If more time would have been available, it would have been useful to be able to examine more types of political systems to give contrast. For example, it would have been possible to look at Communism because it is nearly an exact opposite of Capitalism. Communism is based on an overreaching Government which controls nearly all aspects of life, whereas Capitalism is based on limited Government where the people and free-market control most aspects of life. So it would have been possible to see the results of each system and how they compare in order to truly get a full understanding of the effects of Capitalism.
One new strategy that I used in this collection was using a top ten list for the non-fiction piece. I have never used that format before but I found it quite useful. It allowed me to give a brief synopsis on the main pro-capitalist arguments in a way that it is easy to understand and allows for more arguments to be presented in a brief manner compared to presenting them as a long essay. I would not hesitate to use this format again if the need arose as I found it extremely useful.
Something else I think that you should know is that Capitalism is most effective when used as a pure capitalist system where most areas are truly free-market, not when used as a mixed-economy because there are too many regulations in a mixed-economy (e.g. wage laws) to actually allow the free market to run its course. Therefore when Capitalism is referred to in this collection it is meant to be this pure form of Capitalism.
