This info-graphic is designed to demonstrate the strengths and weaknesses of two completely different political systems, Capitalism and Socialism, in order to determine the pros and cons of each system as well as view which system would be the most beneficial for Canada. Capitalism is a system based on limited Government whose responsibility is restricted to preserving peace, law and order, and justice through the use of police, military, and the court system. Capitalism also focuses on political and economic freedom whereas Socialism is based on a Government which controls the means of production, and uses extremely high taxes in order to ensure that every person receives the exact same treatment. These difference are evident in this info-graphic, for example the categories equality and equity. In Capitalist countries equity is highly regarded, everyone gets what the deserve (e.g. you work hard, you gain more money) whereas Socialist countries prefer to side with equality; this means that everyone receives the exact same treatment and resources regardless of what they deserve (e.g. someone who invents a life saving device would receive the same compensation and treatment as someone who does not contribute to society). In aspects such as this it can often be up to opinion which system a person prefers, however in other areas, such as national GDP or effects on the environment, the results can hardly be considered controversial due to their scientific nature. It is for this reason that both types of arguments are included(personal choice and scientific results) so that it is possible to get a full view of the benefits and disadvantages of each system, and to determine which is the best choice for Canada.
